Go into the light
I learned something new in yoga class today and it was really enlightening. Thanks so much Mary, for sharing. This made me feel happier and want to go toward the light. We have all heard of a guru. In sanskrit (the yogi language), "gu" means darkness and "ru" means light. Hence the term guru, going from darkness into the light. Mary went on to say that this time of the year is all about going into the light. Winter solstice starts tomorrow, December 21. This is when the days start to become longer. Yay! At the same time several of our religious holidays center around light. Christians light candles and place them in their windows during the holidays. Jews celebrate Hanukkah by lighting the Menorah. And for Kwanzaa, the celebration includes lighting the Kinara. So really, its almost as if our New Years' resolutions actually begin in December, as we are all drawn to move toward the light. Once again, thanks to Mary from The Yoga Factory for shedding the light! And on that note, I'd like to add "Merry Christmas"!
