A Quick Fix

I just received a gentle reminder that it is not wise to put off tomorrow what can be done today. You never know when the unexpected will occur. If you read my bio, you know I lost my husband and I was living in Ohio to be near my one and only daughter. So, what happens when daughter receives a job offer to Phoenix, Arizona? This mom follows! I told my daughter to accept the job and not worry about the specifics of selling her condo. That means I have to sell not one residence, but two. Thank goodness both are in good condition, but, there is always something that needs attention. And, as usual, time is money! Stay tuned to my progress! This will put my staging skills to test!
In the meantime, I recently read the April 2015 issue of Rachael Ray Magazine and an article by Lauren Purcell stood out. No, this was not about cooking! It told of 3 simple household fixes that can make a big impact.
Improve your lighting: Lauren says to install dimmer switches. I, too, like dimmers. But I also think even changing your light fixtures can make a huge impact at a not so huge price. Better yet, it's something that can be done quickly.
Paint the baseboards: Our baseboards can get beat up from the vacuum, chairs, etc. A crisp clean base can instantly sharpen your space. And, don't just think white. Black, brown, and even bright colors can dramatically change the entire look.
Refinish your cabinet hardware: A simple change-out can update or change the look of existing cabinets.
